Some Days are Diamonds, and...

...some days are coal.

Here we are, Monday evening.  Bailey has been home two full days.  It is certainly a process to settle in...and I can see that she is really miserable.  I can't blame her though...last Friday morning she was a very active 12 year old and then after about 7 hours in an operating room, and BOOM! No more activity.  My hope is that she will begin to settle in and develop some interests that will distract her from her current situation.

Just when I think things are on the up-swing, we have some sort of set back.  We are looking forward to some consecutive GOOD days.  I have been keeping a mental tally of our "diamonds" and our "coal".  I try to keep her focused on the "diamonds".  Here's the tally from the last couple of days:

DIAMONDS:
  • full control of the TV and DVD player in Mom's room
  • got some mall air
  • VERY close to being able to move her leg on her own
  • figured out how to get in and out of car
  • building strength and better able to move around house
  • removed bandages for faster healing
COAL:
  • removed bandages and upset with what she saw
  • muscle spasms so unable to sleep or get comfortable despite all the medication
  • completely dependent upon Mom and hating every minute of it!

We will begin her homebound schooling this week so before we start that,  I think I will set up the computer for her tomorrow and let her type on the blog, so stay tuned.  I am sure she has some different thoughts than I do!  LOL

XOXOXO
The Hip and Sassys!
