Visions of Sugarplums & Super Heroes...

Merry Christmas to all!  I hope this post finds you well and recovering nicely from an amazing and joyous Christmas season.

Usually, at this time of the evening on Christmas Day, I will be incredibly motivated to remove all reminders of Christmas.  I usually start packing up all of the decorations after dinner or at the very least early the next day.  This year, it is a completely different story.  Not sure if it is the combination of being sick for about a week, or if it is knowing that with the close of Christmas comes the opening of a new chapter...the dreaded surgery and recovery.

This past week has been bitter sweet...it was the start of the Christmas holidays for the girls.  While most 7th graders are just concerned with being able to sleep late and what they will get for Christmas, Bailey has many more serious things on her mind.  When most kids were counting the days to Christmas, Bailey has been counting the days to her surgery.  The kids at school...I certainly wish their parents would teach them some compassion.  There are a couple of moms that I would LOVE to call and have a real "Come To Jesus Meeting" with them! BUT! The girls did have a great week last week...they attended a church Holiday Camp where Bailey was a "Counselor in Training".  On Friday, several of the little ones cried when they knew she was leaving...she has such a way with the lil ones and they just worship her! :)  Hayden was crazy about the "play scape" and inflatables...so much so that she came home with holes in her socks every day...that girl REALLY knows how to play!

Now, this week, we have several pre-op appointments and her blood drive.  We are making our packing lists for the hospital and doing lots of self-talk.  "We will be strong." Together, we can do anything."   "We will be a hero for each other."  (Hero as we define it:  a person that is courageous and strong in spirit even though we may be scared to tears and dreading every minute.)

Hope you have a great week!
